Regarding the change of rulings for Loop Actions

Firstly, as we have announced through our official X page, as the rulings for [loop actions] are not clear, it has brought confusion to everyone during [Battle Spirits Championship 2024 Battle of Revenge] and we sincerely apologize for it.

With everyone’s valuable feedback during [Battle of Revenge], we have looked into the rulings for [Loop Actions] again. Our basic stand is that [Loop Action] is a valid strategy to win, as it is one of the gimmicks of the game. As such, we have modified the rulings, like allowing the skipping of actions for loop.

We will not be going into the details of the modifications to the rulings. If you are unaware of the details, please check the contents through the link below.

Regarding the ruling on omissions

Regarding the changes to [Loop Actions], we have received various feedback and we would like to share our team’s views on part of the feedbacks.

Firstly, regarding the main point of this change – [Under the consent of your opponent, part of the loop can be omitted]. We received the feedback of [Even if the consent of your opponent is not received, as long as it can be explained clearly, it should be omitted]. However, as a loop involves many complicated steps, should it be omitted without the consent of your opponent, some might not explain fully. Also, even if this is easy to understand amongst experienced players, it might still be difficult to understand for a new player, or someone that’s new to a loop.

As such, in order to prevent misconduct and protect new players, we will stick to the fact that a loop can be omitted under the consent of your opponent.

Next, regarding the new rule of [Max limit of cores on your field being 200].

Regarding this point, as the game rule uses a physical object as core, it is impossible to implement [Infinite]. Also, as cores need to be placed on cards and counter area, it is impossible to set a huge number that is not manageable (e.g. 1 billion). As such, in the pretext of allowing loop actions, we need to set a upper limit to the number of cores so as to ensure the game being able to run smoothly. As such, we set a max limit for cores this time.
Regarding the quantity of [200], we feel that it is a quantity that can ensure game development after a loop and at the same time, it is a quantity that can be placed in a core box to bring out. Of course, this quantity may change in the future depending on the meta.

On the other hand, we also noticed some feedback regarding the newly changed rule. This change in rule may be used by some players. For example, not allowing the omittance of loop which causes a double loss due to the drag of time or purposely giving a warning to their opponent.
Firstly, as there are 2 victory conditions for Battle Spirits: [Reducing your opponent’s life to 0] and [Opponent’s deck being at 0 at the start of their start step] (or any other effects that brings about special win condition). Platers would need to, within the time limit, play the game with sportsmanship and attaining the victory condition by either player to end the game.
As TCG uses physical cards for the game, unlike online games, it will not be able to perfectly limit both players’ time taken and difficult to ensure the correct sequence of resolving card effects. However, the advantage of TCG is that the players can communicate during the game. And that is one of the beauties of TCG.
As such, both players would need to work together to complete the game smoothly. Any form of disruption on purpose can be seen as going against sportsmanship.

Also, in accordance to the rules, we will be dealing strictly with the above-mentioned international violations. However, in the case where a new player being unsure of rules and unknowingly violated any rules, we feel that a more tolerant attitude should be adopted. We seek your understanding.

In Conclusion

As we have done a big revision to [Loop actions], and the recently announced [Battle Spirits Shin Kaihou Project] will also bring a huge change to Battle Spirits. As Battle Spirits has 17 years of history, we believe that the changes will shock many players.

We hope that everyone can continue to enjoy our original TCG, Battle Spirits, and hope to keep it going. However, to ensure to longevity of the game, there must be some changes from time to time. These changes might be accepted by everyone, or it might shock some. Regardless of the change. Our team’s intention is to allow everyone to enjoy the fun of Battle Spirits, we hope that everyone can feel our intentions.

The Asia Champion will hail during [Bandai Card Games Fest 24-25 in Japan (Asia)] happening on 15th March. After the Asia Grand Finals, we will announce more news on [Battle Spirits Shin Kaihou Project]. Please come to the convention and participate in the events! See you at the event!
